Be Kind

Need some ideas on how to be kind because you’re out of practice? We won’t hold that against you. Here ...

  • Hold the door for people
  • Thank people for holding the door for you
  • Say “Thank you” when people do anything for you, whether you’re paying them or not (often overlooked)
  • Write something nice on the wall of every Facebook friend you have
  • Buy a lottery ticket and give it to a stranger
  • Donate gently used clothes to an organization that helps people get back into the workforce.
  • Pack an extra lunch and give it to a homeless person you see when going to work.
  • When going on a walk, bring a grocery bag with you and pick up trash in your neighborhood.
  • Take a dog for a walk at the local animal shelter.
  • Leave children who are in the hospital stuffed animals
  • Write letters of appreciation to people in your life
  • Read to the elderly
  • Be a mentor for a child
  • Treat a friend to the movies for no reason
  • Give up your seat for someone
  • Stop for a pedestrian who is waiting to cross the street
  • Collect items for the food bank
  • Introduce yourself to your new neighbor. Bring them something welcoming.
  • Talk to a neighbor you haven’t talked to in a while. Ask how they are.
  • Take flowers to a hospital ward and give them to someone who hasn't had any visitors.
  • Call a friend or family member you haven’t see or talked to in a while
  • When someone is trying to merge into your lane of traffic, let them in
  • For one day, act on every single thought of generosity that arises and see what happens
  • Leave flowers or cookies on your neighbor's front porch
  • Put anonymous thank you cards in neighbor's mailboxes for things like "always keeping your yard so neat" or "always remembering to scoop up their dog's poo"
  • Invite random people that don't know each other to a game night (everyone makes new friends)
  • Wash your neighbor’s car
